RETAINING SERVICES:
Dr. Wachtel follows a rigid retainer process in order to avoid dual role relationships and the risk of being pre-empted out of cases.
First, Dr. Wachtel will not talk to any of the litigants or defendants in a case prior to being retained. Only on rare occasions will he speak to an attorney prior to being retained. The attorney must contact Cherry Creek Psychology to obtain a multi-page information form explaining the retainer process, including fees and procedures. This form must be signed and returned to Dr. Wachtel prior to any contact. In addition, a non-refundable retainer deposit of $250 must be received prior to contact with Dr. Wachtel.
Second, Dr. Wachtel will then have a conversation with the retaining attorney about the case and they will decide together whether or not to proceed. If the decision is to proceed with the case, Dr. Wachtel requires that the remainder of a $2500 replenishing retainer be forwarded to the offices of Cherry Creek Psychology. He charges $250/hour for his work, including testimony and depositions.
Third, Dr. Wachtel will not accept payment from a litigant or a defendant. Dr. Wachtel is working for the attorney in question, and he will only accept payment from that attorney.
Although this procedure may seem overly rigid, Dr. Wachtel has found that it is in the best interest of all involved parties to remain ethical. He has also found that this system limits the number of deceitful requests he receives from attorneys with questionable scruples. He will fight as hard as he can for his clients, and he expects a high degree of principled behavior from them, as well.
Cherry Creek Psychology accepts all major credit cards, cash and checks (when paying by check, funds will be verified prior to beginning any work).
